The Bull Hotel on Blackpool Old Road in Poulton Le Fylde, has raised nearly £2,500 for Macmillan charity. Their General Manager and two team members ‘Braved the Shave’ and celebrated the national Macmillan coffee morning with a cake sale.

The Bull’s team as well as their customers came together to raise money for Macmillan, one of the largest British charities providing specialist health care, advice and financial support to people affected by cancer, by baking, buying and enjoying a range of sweet delicacies. The pub then donated the leftover cakes to Brian House Children’s Hospice where their local taxi company, Poulton Cabs, volunteered to transfer them to the hospice.

Meanwhile, the pub’s General Manager, Alan, and two team members, Anna and Michael, courageously volunteered to have their head shaved to raise even more money for the charity. Anna also donated her chopped locks to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which uses donated hair to provide wigs to children and young people with hair loss.

General Manager, Alan Clarke said: “We are so pleased with how much we’ve raised. Macmillan does incredible work to support those affected by cancer and it is was incredibly rewarding to support their efforts.

“I’d especially like to thank Anna and Michael on my team who also decided to have their hair shaved alongside myself to boost our fundraising efforts.

“I am truly touched by how much support we received from the community too. Our regulars were extremely forthcoming to get on board with the fundraising and we owe a huge thank-you to Poulton Cabs who transferred the leftover cakes to the children’s hospice. It is heart-warming to see the local community come together to raise an incredible amount for a charity close to all of ours and the nations hearts.”
