The Green Man, on Station Road in Stallingborough, has raised nearly £800 for its local primary school. In an event that was hosted late last month, aptly dubbed Stally-Fest, the pub hosted a Garden Festival in conjunction with the Stallingborough Primary School Parent Teacher Association, to support the school.

The day was a community effort, with everyone mucking in to help – from providing the PA system, erecting makeshift stages and manning stalls, trimming the hedges to make sure no one missed a thing and even performing as part of one of the many live acts. It was the first event of its kind, but Claire Hidle, Manager of the Green Man, hopes to make Stally-Fest an annual event.

Claire said: “The school is a stone’s throw from the pub, and many of our customers have children that attend it. It was really special to do something for the community where we can see where the money is going and the benefit it will have on the children in the area.

“Everyone who attended did their bit to help out on the day and make it the success that it was. We had lots of fantastic stalls, some amazing performances from live bands and some really terrible weather – but the whole day was fantastic anyway. And I still can’t believe we managed to raise such a significant sum of money!”

Stallingborough Church of England Primary School aims to teach children from 5 to 11 years old the value of friendship, courage, gratitude, hope, service and truthfulness, through its committed team who create an environment where pupils can flourish and achieve their full potential. The money raised will go towards reaching those goals.
