Head down to the Digby, on Chester Road in Erdington, this Saturday 29th June for a Family Fun Day in aid of Help for Heroes. From 12pm to 6pm, customers can take advantage a range of stalls and entertainment for all the family, before the evening takeover from Reggae band, Benito Star, who kick off at 9pm.

Entrance is free, but customers are encouraged to donate to the charity if they’d like to. They are also invited to take part in the pub’s raffle, which has some fantastic prizes up for grabs, from a range of hampers, to tickets to West Midlands Safari Park and Drayton Manor and some exciting donations from both Birmingham City FC and Aston Villa.

Deputy Manager of the Digby, Carrie-Anne Tanser, is the brains behind the event, and she has pulled out all the stops. Customers can expect to find face painting, a bouncy castle, a football shoot-out competition and more. There will be a delicious barbecue and a specially erected Carling Bar outside as well as a Jerk Chicken and an Ice Cream Van on site. Carrie-Anne has also organised visits from the local Emergency Services, who will be on hand for photo opportunities.

Carrie-Anne said: “My team have been laughing at me, because they say I can’t do anything in half measures! This isn’t like anything we’ve held at the Digby before. I think they thought we’d just get a couple of collection buckets!

“But, if you’re going to do something, you’ve got to do it properly… especially for such an amazing charity like Help for Heroes. The work they do is so important to our veterans, who are such an inspiring and brave group of people.

“Lots of local businesses have been incredibly generous with the prizes they’ve donated to our raffle, and we have got so much on, I think our customers a bound to have a great day! It looks like the weather is going to perfect too, so hopefully there will be a good turnout and we’ll be able to raise some money for Help for Heroes.”

The event comes as part of Carrie-Anne’s participation in Stonegate Pub Company’s ‘Accelerator Programme’. The course is part of its award-winning development programme, designed to give staff the skills and knowledge they need to succeed and proceed within the company.
