Rendezvous, on St Thomas Street in Weymouth, has won the Dorset Echo’s prestigious ‘Contribution to Tourism Award’. The pub, that has been a finalist for the award for the previous four years of the paper’s industry awards, took home the accolade for the first time, in recognition of its Quayside Music Festival. Rendezvous beat off stiff competition from the Brewery Square lifestyle and shopping centre and entertainment venue, Weymouth Pavilion.

The pub was commended for its ongoing dedication to growing tourism in the area, as it continues to expand its music festival, which is held five-times a year. It is now attended by over 5000 people and boasts performances from more than 20 local and national bands. Each instalment spans a whole weekend and is presented from the Rendezvous’ garden, on their very own outdoor stage.

Although this was a first time win for the pub, Manager Keith Treggiden and his team have been picking up a plethora of gongs for their contribution to the community in recent years. From CAMRA’s Pub of the Year, to three Best Bar None Awards and the Great British Pub Award’s Best Entertainment Pub 2017, the Rendezvous’ impact just keeps on growing.

Keith attended the awards ceremony with his Deputy Managers, Dean Rose, Jack Matthews and Lyn Mackenzie, and said of the win: “We’re really proud to have picked up the Contribution to Tourism Award. We have been building our music festival for a number of years now and to see our hard work pay off is just fantastic!

“Weymouth is a wonderful town and doing our bit to bring in more tourists and share what it has to offer, is a privilege. We hope to see all the familiar faces and some new ones at the next instalment of the Quayside Music Festival over the August Bank Holiday!”
