Ye Olde Red Lion in Cheam, will be hosting a charity quiz night in aid of Sutton Opportunity Pre-School to raise money to help them finish building a sensory garden.
The charity provides support and opportunities for children with special educational needs, enabling them to play and learn alongside their mainstream peers. The school offers sessional care in a safe, stimulating environment for children from two years to statutory school age.
Many autistic children and children with learning difficulties suffer from sensory processing disorder and the sensory garden, which is currently half completed, will help these children develop. It is also a lovely outdoor space for the children to use with their key workers.
The quiz will be held in the beautiful gardens of the Ye Olde Red Lion pub, in the village of Cheam. Customers will be asked to contribute £2 to take part, in an attempt to raise at least another £500. High street bank HSBC has also pledged to match the amount raised during the evening. All proceeds will go directly to the Pre-School.
General Manager, Erin Griffin, said: “The charity is very close to my heart, as my autistic son attended the pre-school and really benefitted from his time there. The sensory garden will make a real difference to the children and we want to raise as much money as possible to help them finish it. During our last quiz night we were able to raise £570 and this time we hope to raise even more”.
In addition to the quiz night at the Ye Olde Red Lion, Erin will be running a fundraising stall for Sutton Opportunity School at the Cheam Charter Fair on 18th May. There will be games, sweet treats for sale and a raffle.
