Craig Almond, Manager of the Adelphi, on Fylde Street in Preston, is taking part in his local ‘Ultra White-Collar Boxing’ event on Saturday 27th April, in aid of Cancer Research UK. The event will take place at the Preston Guild Hall and Charter Theatre.

Craig has been undergoing intensive training, three times a week, since the beginning of February in order to get himself fighting fit for the black-tie fundraiser, where he will be pitted against one of his fellow participants.

With the help of his team at the Adelphi and his regular customers, Craig has already raised nearly £400 of his £500 target, putting him in first place on the fundraiser leader board. Donations are still coming in thick and fast, through sponsorship and collection pots on the bar, and with two weeks still to go until the big day, he is confident he will exceed even his own expectations.

Craig said: “I’m a pretty active guy anyway, but nothing could have prepared me for the intensity of boxing training! It’s relentless – and we do it for eight solid weeks in preparation for the event.

“I can’t believe how supportive everyone has been. From buying tickets to come and see me fight, to donating to the cause – I have been really touched by the massive effort from everyone around me. Cancer Research is such a fantastic charity though, it’s no wonder people feel inspired to get behind it – plus they get to see me in my boxing gear, which is just an added bonus!”
