Slug and Lettuce, in Manchester’s famous Piccadilly area, is hosting a special gin themed fundraiser event this Thursday in support of local homeless charity, Barnabus. Aptly dubbed, ‘Gin ne Sais Quoi’, the evening will kick off from 5pm and will be jam-packed with entertainment, all in aid of a good cause.

Deputy Manager of the Slug and Lettuce and organiser of the event, Jodie Ellis, is inviting customers to come along and enjoy the exclusively designed Gin Cocktail Menu, sample some new flavours with the mini gin flight boards available, or have a go at making one of their own. Entrance is free and there will be free samples handed out throughout the evening, with all proceeds from the event going straight to the charity.

There will also be a Gin and Tonic cupcake stall, an extensive garnish trolley for customers to create the most extravagant of cocktails, and a raffle, with a range of exciting prizes to be won, including a gin hamper, a cocktail masterclass and a pink gin tree. Jodie has also organised a saxophonist to serenade guests for the evening, as well as a glitter makeup artist and a DJ, who will continue the fun well into the night.

“We’re all really excited about ‘Gin ne Sais Quoi’,” said Jodie, “Gin is very much the drink of the moment and what better way to enjoy it, than as part of a fundraiser for such an important cause! We spent a lot of time dreaming up some really delicious gin-inspired cocktails especially for the event and we really hope our customers will enjoy them.

“January is a particularly hard time for people living on the streets, it’s freezing outside and in the aftermath of the festive season, I feel like homelessness falls even further to the back of our minds. Barnabus offers a lifeline to 600 homeless and vulnerable people each week and as it received no government funding, it is completely reliant on donations. I hope by doing our bit, we can make a difference to the lives of homeless people in Manchester.”

The event comes as part of Jodie’s participation in Stonegate Pub Company’s ‘Accelerator Programme’. The course is part of its award-winning development programme, designed to give its people the skills and knowledge they need to succeed and progress within the company.
