Popworld in Cardiff is hosting a Bandeoke night in support of the Jacob Abraham Foundation. Budding vocalists will get their chance to sing their favourite 70’s and 80’s tunes accompanied by a professional live band on Thursday 18th December.

Two live bands, Tumbling Dice and Outback, will be taking requests and filling the bar with groovy tunes. Customers can join the band on stage and sing their hearts out, and for a minimum £10 donation to the charity, they can have a professional photograph taken of them singing. A glitter artist will also be on hand to glitz up performers looking to make their big break in style, and a portion of her proceeds will be going to the charity.

On the night all the staff will be dressed in 70’s and 80’s costumes and a fire breather will also be outside the venue to greet customers with a bit of extra flare.

The Jacob Abraham Foundation, based in Cardiff, was established to raise awareness of mental health issues and help prevent suicide. The charity provides counselling sessions for those feeling in despair and also for bereaved families.

A Just Giving page has been set up to make donations easier and anyone who donates will be in with the chance of winning two tickets to see Nile Rodgers and Chic perform live at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on the 18th December. The winner will be announced the weekend before the event.

Popworld is also encouraging local businesses to donate funds, for the chance to win a booth in the venue on an evening of their choice.

Popworld Deputy Manager, Becky Lloyd, has been working the Jacob Abraham Foundation for over a year. She said: “We wanted to find a fun way to raise money and awareness for this superb cause while offering customers a fun and different experience – it’s not very often that you get the opportunity to sing your favourite 70’s and 80’ hits with the backing of a live band! I can’t wait to see the performances!”
