The Railway is Crawley’s Christmas Pick
The Railway, on Brighton Road in Crawley, has been announced as the proud winner of local Crawley MP, Henry Smith’s, annual Christmas Pub Competition.
The pub beat off stiff competition from other pubs in the area, with Mr. Smith siting the festive beer mats as the adornment he personally favoured. The Railway was also commended for its individuality in both the style and presentation and for truly demonstrating what Christmas is all about.
Mr. Smith visited the General Manager of the Railway, Emma Kelf, and her team, on Saturday 15th December, to see the decorations in person and congratulate them with a certificate. As part of their prize, the team will benefit from an addition to their ranks one evening, as Mr. Smith has promised to lend a hand with his pint pulling expertise in the new year. They will also be presented with a signed bottle of House of Commons Blended Scotch Whiskey.
“I’m so happy that we won the competition!” said Emma, “We all love Christmas at the Railway, so are more than happy to put some extra effort into making the pub as festive as possible, but to be recognised for it, it just great!
“I’m particularly excited to have Mr. Smith join us behind the bar for an evening – although I’m a bit worried his pint pulling skills won’t be up to scratch!”
Henry Smith, MP, said, “I can tell you, it was no easy task to pick a winner and the runners-up! The Railway has adorned its interior and exterior with many Christmas themes, enabling their patrons to really soak up the festive atmosphere in the lead up to the bit day.
“It is with great pleasure that I offer my congratulations – and I look forward to meeting Emma and her staff soon.”
