Stratford’s Goose Pub To Be Relaunched As The Sportsman
The Goose in Stratford town centre closed its doors on Monday 17th September ahead of a massive £250,000 investment by managing operator Stonegate Pub Company.
When it reopens three weeks later on Sunday 7th October, it will be renamed ‘The Sportsman’ and sport will naturally be a major focus, with Sky Sports showing on a large projector screen, plus 15 brand new HD TVs.
As well as a fresh new look, The Sportsman will have three craft ale lines, two new pool tables and a brand new menu featuring an extended selection of veggie and vegan specials, as well as burgers, kid’s meals, and much more.
Vegetarian and vegan customers can enjoy a range of specially formulated recipes that take traditional pub-grub well and truly into the future, with dishes including a Cauliflower and Dhansak Curry and a Thai Lentil Pie, topped with an innovative coconut crumble.
Four of the pub’s most popular ‘King Feast’ dishes will now feature permanently on the menu as ‘Big Plate Specials’; customers can choose from a Giant Curry, Chicken Feast, Pie Shop Platter or Sausage & Mash Mountain (also available as a vegetarian option featuring veggie sausages).
A wider selection of burgers have been added to the already popular burger menu, with the Mac and Cheese Burger and the Surf and Turf Burger set to become firm favourites, as well as Fish Fingers and Grilled Halloumi making their way onto the Children’s Menu.
Four new jobs have been created as a result of the investment and General Manager, Radoslaw Zyla, can’t wait to welcome customers in to show off the new-look pub and introduce the new team. He said: “The Goose was always popular with both locals and visitors to Stratford, but when it reopens as The Sportsman, I know customers are going to love it! We want to make it famous for sport, so we’ll be showing all the big matches, plus we’ll have Karaoke on Thursday nights, a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday will be quiz night.”
Other reasons to visit include discounted ‘Big Plate Specials’ on Monday nights (choose from a Giant Curry, Chicken Feast, Pie Shop Platter or Sausage & Mash Mountain – also available as a vegetarian option featuring veggie sausages). Offers are on for the rest of the week too: on Tuesdays it’s ‘Big Burgers and a Drink, Wednesdays is ‘Pie and Pint’, Thursday is ‘Grill and a Drink’, Friday’s offer is ‘Classic Dish and a Drink’ and Saturday Sharers give customers the choice of a five dish pick ‘n’ mix plank.
