Head back to the Roaring ‘20s at the Angelic

The Angelic, on Liverpool Road, in Islington, is hosting a 1920s themed party in support of the health and social care charity, Change Grow Live, on Friday 10th August.

Deputy Manager, Kamila Switkowska, with the help of her team, will be transforming the pub into something reminiscent of the roaring ‘20s, with floor to ceiling décor and even some life size cardboard cut outs of some of the famous faces from the bygone era.

Customers can pre-book their tables to enjoy a complimentary glass of Prosecco, and the pub will be showing the film, ‘The Great Gatsby’, to really set the tone. There will be collection buckets on hand throughout the night to raise money for the charity.

The event comes as part of Kamila’s, participation in the ‘Accelerator Programme’, a training course run by managing operator, Stonegate Pub Company. The course, which runs over four months, includes a practical component, where participants must organise and produce a fundraiser for a chosen charity.

The programme is designed to give employees the tools to bridge the gap between Deputy Manager and General Manager, through education and dynamic group learning. The course aims to build the participant’s confidence, encourage continued independent learning and help them to work together effectively as team.

“Change Grow Live is a charity that is very close to my heart,” said Kamila, “I didn’t have the easiest of upbringings, and if it wasn’t for the help and support I received from charities like these, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Every little bit helps – however much we manage to raise on the night, will go such a long way to supporting someone who really needs it, and it’s the kind of help that can be totally life changing!

“We’ve got some surprises up our sleeves for the evening and tables are being booked up already. I don’t want to give too much away – but we’ve got a pretty spectacular ‘Prosecco Fountain’ planned!”

The Accelerator Programme in now in its 20th graduation cycle and has seen 337 Deputy Managers complete the course, raising over £200,000 for UK Charities between them.
