Deputy Manager of the Hamstead, Leah Bowen, and twelve of her female colleagues and friends will be running the Sutton Coldfield 5K Race for Life on Sunday 8th July.

The team have already raised nearly £1000 for Cancer Research UK, through sponsorship and events organised at the pub, including a Fundraising Breakfast and two BBQs. They are currently also selling tickets for a ‘Pink Raffle’, offering participants the chance to win a Pink Hamper, with all things pink inside, from Gordon’s Pink Gin, to a bottle of Prosecco and pink unicorn garden gnome.

The winning ticket will be drawn at the pub after the race, where the Leah and the girls will be celebrating their accomplishment.

“We’ve all been training hard for the race,” said Leah, “5K is no mean feat! But we’re ready and it’ll all be worth it for the money we can donate to such an important cause. Cancer affects so many people across the UK and throughout the world and Race for Life not only raises money to help fight cancer, but also raises awareness.

“The girls and I have also inspired the Manager, Bryn, and the other guys at the pub to get fundraising too. They’re planning their own event next month – I’m not sure they’ll be as successful as us, but there’s nothing like some friendly Boys vs. Girls competition to inspire the lads!”
