The Abbey Tap launched on The Broadway on Saturday 9 June, only a stone’s throw from Stratford Underground Station and Westfield Shopping Centre, following a £300,000 investment.

The new bar, featuring stripped back brickwork and reclaimed wood, the urban and industrialised chic new bar will appeal to commuters and office workers for the after work wind-down, as well as shoppers and visitors to nearby local attractions, including the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London Stadium, home of West Ham United and British Athletics. With a big screen and five TVs showing both Sky and BT Sport, sports fans will love it too!

Hand-stretched sourdough pizzas, tempting tapas and a choice of six different burgers as well as sharing platters and traditional favourites (think fish and chips, sausage and mash and rump steak) mean there is something for everyone on the menu. Vegans are catered for with a range of dishes, as are those with a sweet tooth – a sharing ‘Pudding Pizza’ topped with fruit and cinnamon crumble, marshmallows, salted caramel sauce and ice cream, being a highlight on the dessert menu!

With Camden Brewery on the doorstep, craft beers at The Abbey Tap include Camden Hells and Camden Pale Ale plus Adnams Mosaic, Dead Pony Club from Brewdog and Meantime’s Yakima Red, as well as an extended bottle range. Cask lovers can choose from Doom Bar, Seafarer or Redemption Trinity. Ciders on offer are Lilley’s, in both Mango and Rhubarb flavours, Rekorderling Strawberry and Lime and Orchard Thieves.

Cocktails, bombs and a wide range of premium gins, vodkas, whiskies, rums and brandies are also available, as well as a great selection of red, white and rosé wines and fizz.

Doors opened to the public for the first time at 7pm on Saturday 9th June when General Manager, Greg Fernandes, and his team were joined by local residents and workers for the grand opening. Guests enjoyed free craft beer samples and Tapas menu tasters, while entertainment was provided by a musical duo, followed by an 80’s glam rock night.

Ten new jobs have been created as a result of the investment and manager Greg says he is always interested to hear from for new talent keen to join the team.

Excited about the new opening, he said: “The Abbey Tap is going to bring a really different type of venue to Stratford; as well as a quiz night every Thursday, we’re planning Open Mic nights, Gaming nights and much, much more!

“We will of course be showing all FIFA World Cup matches too and routing for England, plus our adopted teams Spain and Portugal! There really is something for everyone, so come on down and check it out!”

Other reasons to visit include lunch and a soft drink for £6.50, Monday – Friday from 12pm -3pm, Meat Free Mondays with a free smoothie, Sticky Wing day on Wednesday (10 for £3), 2-4-1 pizzas from 5-8pm on Thursdays and Fizz Friday with bottles of prosecco available from £15.
