Hammersmith MP Andy Slaughter recently took time out to visit three of his constituency pubs to see behind the scenes of their combined almost one million pounds investment that owner Stonegate Pub Company has funded in the last two years.

Twice winner of the national Great British pub award for sports, Fulham’s Famous Three Kings which attracts international interest, was first on the tour followed by Hop Poles in Hammersmith after its £370,000 refurbishment in March added an edge of independence to the town; then Shepherd Bush’s the ‘Green’, a bar transformed almost eighteen months ago into what has now become a local landmark.

The local MP was introduced to the front and back of house team, learning of Stonegate’s apprenticeships and careers in management.

Mr Slaughter commented: “It is clear to see how passionate the Stonegate managers are about their pubs and areas local to their businesses. It goes to prove that well run pubs like these are huge assets in the community as well as offering significant contribution to employment and local economy.”

General manager Elena Villar of Hop Poles, Hammersmith said: “It was great for our local MP to take time out of his busy diary to visit our pubs and recognise the contribution we make, by our own quirkiness and drive, to keep the interest in local areas of London buzzing.”

Area Manager Stephen Macmahon was on hand to give Mr Slaughter the guided tour: “We appreciate Andy visiting three pubs to see the renovations and to meet the local teams.  This investment forms part of our annual £50 Million spend developing our pubs across the country providing enhanced community facilities, creating jobs and careers for people of all ages. Hospitality is an important business sector generating significant income for government and we are pleased that our local MP recognises the importance of British pubs and bars.”
