Local MP Jo Stevens took time out to visit Gassy’s bar on Cardiff’s Salisbury Road last week to see the recent £250,000 investment earlier this year.

Gassys new quirky look with abstract paintings, graffiti, and neon lighting has soared in popularity since the January completion, leading to further expansion of the bar’s team. Craft beer, tin can cocktails, sports and live entertainment aiming for a fun atmosphere, just some of lure that has attracted the city’s millennial in their droves.

The local MP was introduced to the front and back of house team, learning of Stonegate’s apprenticeships and careers in management including manager Nathan Jones who has worked his way from bar to manager under the company’s development programme.

Ms Stevens commented: “It was great to see first-hand the success of Gassy’s since the investment. Hearing about Nathan’s fantastic career story, the sourcing of beer from local breweries, and opportunities offered for local bands to play – fitting in well with the ongoing campaign to promote live music in Cardiff – really does show the huge benefits of the pub and bar sector to our local economy.”

General manager Nathan Jones said: “It was great to meet with Jo and show how Gassys has adapted to become an all day amenity from flexible workspaces in the daytime to a vibrant and fun bar in the evening.”

Area Manager Leanne Morrall was on hand to give Ms Stevens the guided tour: “We appreciate Jo visiting Gassys to see the renovation and to meet the local team.  This investment forms part of our annual £50 Million spend developing our pubs across the country providing enhanced community facilities, creating jobs and careers for people of all ages. Hospitality is an important business sector generating significant income for government and we are pleased that our local MP recognises the importance of British pubs and bars.”
