Hatton Garden is gaining a renewed treasure following the £310,000 renovation of the Argyle, a perfectly placed historical tavern that has been a Great British pub since Dickensian times.

Modern and opulent, yet shrewdly preserved of its traditional features, the refurbished Argyle is offering square mile city slickers a quintessential escape with premium craft beers, twenty-eight London gins, and impressive traditional fresh food. It even has the only roof terrace within 1.5 miles of the city heated, brightened, and with its own Sipsmith bar.

An exclusive (almost secret) basement, complete with City of London gin distillery for connoisseurs to infuse their own botanicals, is also being unveiled, a private haven for patrons preferring to choose their own company with old-style table service and private pre-bookable booths for up to fifteen friends.

After opening 19th March, as the city retreats for Easter on the eve of Good Friday, a VIP event from 5pm 29th March is set to showcase the pub’s wares with purveyors City of London gin and Meantime on hand to talk all things Juniper, Citrus, and malty whilst canapés and bubbles do their rounds.

Now open weekends, Hatton Garden residents need no longer wait for weekdays either to enjoy the spirit of a modern British pub where the clientele wouldn’t look out of place wearing bowler hats too.

 “Hatton Garden is a unique part of the city with lots of anecdotes and history,” said manager Colin Newbery. “It’s archetypal, Great London pubs where stories are told and friends are made. The renewed sophistication, along with a traditional fine offer, adds to that charm.”

Drinks say it all with Amstel, Staropramen, Estrella, Peroni beside craft beers Hop House 13, Camden Hells and Punk IPA. Four cask ales offer rotated brews Doombar, London Pride, Bright beer and Wadsworth. From the gin parlour twenty-eight gins, modern to the traditional, and everywhere in between, with choices of tonic and recommended garnish. Wine cellar choices are abundant with wine flights, a 100 ml glass of any three, the perfect alternative to decision making!

Whether post-work grazing or quick lunching the food menu is an exciting range of wonderfully honest pub food. From traditional hand battered fish & chips, sharing platters packed full of camembert, shredded duck toasts and cauliflower fritters, Great British snacks including sausage rolls and scotch eggs, to a range of burgers – we’ve got a menu to suit all tastes and occasions.

Other reasons to visit include lunchtime sandwich & drink at £8.00 Monday to Friday, and Wednesday Wine with 16 wines just £12 a bottle each;
