West Street’s Beehive pub, famed for sport, is getting twelve new HD screens ahead of a busy sporting summer as part of a £200,000 refurbishment, whilst calling out to Sheffield based musicians to be part of the pub’s extended Sunday band nights.

The pub closed Monday 29th January for a three-week makeover and will reopen with eight new jobs Thursday 15th February with its rejuvenating new décor, furnishings, flooring and feature bar. Even the beer garden is getting the works with Astro-Turf and all year round under cover heated pergola; a city retreat from busy workdays all year round.

Sports fans will get to experience the new viewing technology, with a screen viewpoint anywhere in the pub and both Sky and BT Sports.  Sheffield Wednesday’s big 5th Round Match will kick the opening weekend off on Saturday 17th February with Ipswich vs Norwich and Leeds Vs Bristol City to be screened on Sunday 18th February.

In addition, there’s promise of table service during every big game so there’s never a reason to miss a goal again, and Pay-Per-View events start with the boxing in February ahead of the big Anthony Joshua fight 31st March.

Sunday 18th February will be the first of the new weekly line up of local band talent playing from 6pm with The Beehive’s own barman, Joel Fordham’s band Brain Circus and manager of four years Michael Jarvie offering new up and coming talent the chance to take the stage:

“Sheffield has an eclectic music scene and there’s some great names that have come out of the city. Whilst we’ve always had occasional live bands, we’re ramping it up to create a Sunday night buzz on West Street,” said Michael.

“We want musicians to come forward and use the opportunity to put their name on the map, getting in some good gig practice.”

With an extra trading hour every night of the week, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to try the five cask and three craft beers, with all cask ale only £2.25 every Tuesday. An extended cocktail range is retaining the 2-4-1 all day every day offer.

Food has something for every one too with breakfast served from 10am-12pm, 2 meals from £8.49 such as Fish & Chips and Beef & Ale Pie all day every day. Burgers from Classic Beef to What-a-Porka, Grills, and Build-your-own Planks for the ultimate pub-goers couldn’t get more ‘proper pub’.

Other reasons to visit include quiz night Tuesday; old school DJ’s on Wednesday nights from 9pm; free pool all day Thursday, and DJ livening up the atmospheres on Saturdays when the Beehive is open until 2am. Super Sunday is all about informal Sunday roast, sports and live music from 6pm.
