The Dam Inn at Newmillerdam has reopened to a fantastically busy first week after its impressive £200,000 makeover brought Yorkshire locals from far and wide to enjoy the pub’s famous carvery in its new look setting.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Stuart Heptinstall popped in on Friday evening (16th Feb) as canapés, fizz, and live music were put on in style to officially launch the refurbishment.
The usual array of award-winning real ales were welcomed back by CAMRA enthusiasts, invited along to the taster event to check out that the authentically Yorkshire pub had indeed preserved it’s iconic look.
“We’re absolutely delighted with how the refurbishment has really brightened and opened up the pub,” said manager Paul Hardwick.
“We seem to have loads more space now! The snug area that was under used before, has suddenly become the most popular area to sit and we’ve had really positive feedback all round so a great summer to look forward to!”
The pub has continued it’s local connections with veggies supplied by farmer John Dudding; beers Acorn, Ilkley and Osset breweries, and paintings by local artist Jenny Hutchinson.
Walkers, families, tourists, and even four-legged friends are made to feel welcome with entertainment, daily carvery, and reasons to visit from burger night on Wednesdays, grills on Thursday and Fizz Friday – where bottles of Prosecco are sold at a special price of £15.
