Norwich’s historic Lamb Inn is undergoing renovation whilst along with its rumoured ghosts, is still retaining its three hundred year character and charm with the massive £400,000 investment.

 

The listed old coaching inn has stood the test of time having been burnt, flooded, and at the mercy of historic murders but now has another chapter starting including a contemporary outside courtyard, brand new first floor bar, and renovated ground floor – periodic charm meets 21st century flair.

 

The investment, creating twenty new jobs will be celebrated by the Lord Mayor of Norwich Cllr David Fulman and MP Clive Lewis at a VIP affair on 26th October, set to wow locals with a fusion of vintage heritage, bohemian décor, an expansive range of cask ale and craft beer, brand new menu and extensive entertainment line up.

 

Local band ‘The Foreign Locals’ (fresh from the main stage at the Sundown festival) will ensure ample atmosphere at the opening whilst menu and craft tasters will circulate – a sneak peak of what’s to come with a brimming line up of performers booked up until January.

 

“We worked hard to transform the Lamb before we had our investment and have already established our courtyard as the chameleon place to sit in the sun or dance the night away. We’ve big plans for the rest of 2017 and moving into 2018! We have one of the best spaces in the city before… but now we are on another level! A huge thank you to the local support we’ve had and we have to mention the amazing people at Woodfordes Brewery and Redwell Brewery” said general manager Oliver McErlain.

 

The courtyard embraces a day to night experience with undercover seating and heaters making it the perfect spot to socialise all year round. Locals can lavishly sip gin with year round entertainment, stylish comfy furniture and a bar ensuring the drinks continue flowing into the night. The upstairs area is even available to hire for functions perfect for Christmas celebrations, birthdays and social soirees.

 

Pair that with a new menu offering traditional autumn fayre like Venison Pie with juniper flavoured gravy; vegetarian Pearl Barley Risotto with chestnuts and Bella Lodi cheese shavings; Venison Sausages & Mash, and Sunday Beef Duo you know your winter will be a warm one. As the BBQ goes into hibernation, more steak toppers keep grills interesting whilst the Wagyu Beef burger (Japanese breed of cattle) is the most premium of burger choices.

 

Desserts to make any meal memorable include Sticky Toffee Pudding, Crème Brûlée, Carrot Cake Roulade and Blackcurrant & Sloe Gin Meringue.

Drinks aren’t left out either with a shrine to the holy grail ‘gin’ meeting expectations of an entire community no less than thirteen Great British Gins from Tanquerey, to Warner Edwards Victoria’s Rhubarb gin whilst the designated driver can rejoice in low alcohol Brewdog Nanny State or Strawberry & Lime Rekorderlig Cider.

 

Tradition brings real ale with five traditional national and local favourites on rotation featuring the likes of Adnams, Woodfordes and Redwell whilst the favoured tipple of modern pub goers, craft beers don’t go amiss with appearances from Shipyard and Blue Moon.

 

Its weekly line up includes live bands one weekend of the month as well as weekly quizzes, and full on garden parties. Friday and Saturday nights now going until 1am plus lots l more to come!
