One of the oldest pubs in Kilburn has re-opened following a £165k investment. The Old Bell, which can date its history as a hostelry back to 1600, re-opened its doors with a celebration on Friday 20th November, creating nine new jobs for people in the area.

General manager Kim Severn and her team welcomed back regular customers from 5pm for a special reception so they could take a sneak preview of their refurbished pub. Guests were treated to a complimentary glass of bubbly and canapes, as they enjoyed live music. Doors officially re-opened at 7pm with live music continuing until 8pm before the pub’s resident DJ stepped up the tempo.

The pub’s makeover resulted in a new bar area being installed, upgraded screens for sports viewing, a greater range of cask ales and the introduction of craft beer.

Opening daily from 10am, the pub on the High Road serves a wide range of brunch dishes, including the full English breakfast, pancakes with maple syrup or fresh fruit and yoghurt as well as freshly brewed coffee and hot drinks. Perfectly situated a stone’s throw from Kilburn station and nearby to underground and bus routes, The Old Bell appeals to its long standing regulars, tourists and commuters alike. With a fantastic reputation as a daytime meeting point, or as a place to relax with friends to watch live sport, the pub has a range of snacks and light bites, fresh salads, grilled dishes and burgers on its menu in addition to proper pub favourites; dishes such as its gold award winning Cumberland sausage and seasoned mash, mac ‘n’ cheese and a range of tasty British pies, available at two for £8.99 every day.

Real ale enthusiasts will be delighted with the doubling in range of Old Bell’s cask beer to four hand pumps. Beers from local brewers such as Camden Town Brewery sit on tap alongside national favourites, Sharp’s Doombar and Wychwood’s Hobgoblin. The Old Bell has also introduced the phenomenally successful beer trend, craft beer, with beers from London’s Meantime Brewery and Aberdeen based Brewdog. For those who enjoy the sweeter taste of cocktails, its cocktail range are available at two for the price of one, all day, every day of the week.

A favourite in Kilburn for sports enthusiasts, the Old Bell continues to show all the best live sporting action via Sky Sports and BT Sport throughout weekday evenings. Premiership and UEFA Champions League football dominate the screens earlier in the week with a new pub quiz launching on Thursday evenings. Fans of American football’s NFL can top up their drinks, grab platters to share and settle in a regular spot to watch all the thrills and spills of the top games. Friday night welcomes Old Bell’s resident DJ to kick start the weekend, whilst live music, performed by local artists, takes place every Saturday. Super Sport Sunday dominates the official day of rest, the perfect accompaniment to Old Bell’s freshly prepared Sunday roast.

Speaking of the refurbishment, Kim Severn said, “Old Bell is truly a great local pub and much loved by the people of Kilburn. We are delighted to be able to give it a refurbishment, so that it may continue to be the heart of the community for many years to come. We are particularly thrilled that we have been able to extend our cask beer range and introduce craft too, meaning we can showcase some the fantastic beers from breweries on our doorstep.”

The pub will close at 11pm Sunday to Thursday and at Midnight on Friday and Saturday.
