Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) is underway and is heading to Manchester next week. BBPT which is in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity, will make its way into the Manchester area on Tuesday 24th June visiting eighteen pubs before departing for the next leg of its journey on Friday 27th June.

Each of the 620 pubs and bars from the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company will take part in the event by organising fundraising events galore to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, across towns and cities from the Isle of Wight to Inverness, a giant BBPT passport will journey 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business, by an assortment of unique and entertaining methods of transport.

As the largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK, excitement and anticipation for the event in Manchester is already high with crowds of customers expected to participate. A fleet of motorbike riders will pick up the passport from Yates’s in Rochdale and deliver it to the first stop, on the outskirts of the city, Molloys on Silver Street, Bury. The team at Molloys have organised for a dumper truck to pick up the passport at 6pm and transport it to its last destination for the night, Yates’s on Market Street, Bury.

Yates’s in Bury, popular with sports fans, will be showing the deciding World Cup game for England and have organised a Brazil inspired party with an 80’s Europop twist. In the morning (Wednesday 25th June) at 9am, team members from the pub will form a conga line and head to the Slug and Lettuce in Spinningfields, giving away blow up guitars and balloons and encouraging those along the way to join the line.

Once in Manchester, the passport will be transported from site to site, starting at the Slug and Lettuce in Spinningfields where for a charitable donation, guests can enjoy a glass of bubbly. The team at the bar will don their best fancy dress and encourage guests to give generously to Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The passport will also be making an appearance at several carnival themed parties and auctions throughout the day. On Deansgate, it will visitSlug and Lettuce, Lost Dene and the Living Room whilst on Portland Street, it’s the Ark and Yates’s.

At 10pm that same evening, the passport will stop at Missoula on Whitworth Street West for a celebratory end of day party. Keeping up the World Cup spirit, Brazilian stilt walkers will be welcoming guests whilst DJ Stephen Corrie, DJ Locki and DJ ZuZu will keep everyone dancing until the early hours.

The following day (Thursday 26th June), ten team members from the city’s pubs will be meeting at the Footage on Grosvenor Street to cycle 23.5 miles to the Buck Inn in Sale.

General manager of the Slug and Lettuce in Didsbury, Alex Prevost, said: “I will, along with nine of my colleagues, be taking the passport on an exhilarating bike ride through Manchester. We will bringing charity buckets with us, as well as the giant passport of course, and will be stopping by seven of our sister pubs and bars before arriving at the finish line, the Buck Inn in Sale. In the spirit of charity and as an extra treat, some of the bikers will be in fancy dress. I myself will be dressed as Spiderman!”

The group of bike riders are set to arrive at the Buck Inn at 7.30pm, where along with customers they can enjoy a fun-filled party night with a DJ playing the best tunes from the 90’s and 80’s. The following morning (Friday 27th June), the passport will be transported to the market town of Altrincham, visiting the Slug and Lettuce and the Navigation Hotel.

As part of the fundraising 50p from the sale of special Charity tipples, Strawberry Pimm’s or a pint of specially brewed real ale, The Crawler (Golden Blonde ale 4.1 ABV) will be donated to the Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The passport will continue its tour around the country culminating with a spectacular party at Slug and Lettuce, Tower Bridge on Friday 26 September.
