Egham town centre pub, The Crown, is to get a brand new Spring makeover, re-opening in time for the May bank holiday. The High Street pub will be transformed in a 10-day, £185,000 refurbishment, that will see it re-launch as a haven for great food, ale and wine, creating eight new additional jobs.
“We closed this week”, said General Manager Matt Samler “and will re-open with a celebratory reception on Friday 2nd May. Structurally we are not changing the pub but it we have a very different feel to it with elegant furnishings and emphasis on quality food and drink choices.”
The pub will have new décor and furniture throughout as well as a larger kitchen in readiness for head chef Easton’s new Spring and Summer menu. Popular with local Egham residents, families and businesses the pub’s outdoor seating in front of the pub is the perfect sun trap for a lunchtime stop, whilst the large split level decked garden to the rear is ideal for alfresco dining. New sleek black and gold signage will adorn the exterior whilst inside, stylish furnishings offer customers a choice of traditional dining area or more informal relaxed seating. The bar will be stocked with a wide selection of wines to accompany the new menu as well as a choice of six locally and nationally sourced cask ales on tap. A new cocktail menu has been created, with cocktails available at two for the price of one all day on Sundays through until Thursdays.
General Manager Matt Samler and his team will be opening the doors from 5pm on Friday 2nd May offering a glass of champagne and canapé tasters from the new menu to invited guests and local businesses. Entertaining customers during the evening will be live music.
Food is to become a big focus at the pub with the brand new menu featuring mouth-watering dishes such as Open Chicken Pie, Seafood Linguine, or tempting desserts including Lemon Meringue Pie or Cinnamon and Caramel Cake. Other new additions include a choice of dishes under 500 calories, that certainly make up in flavour for what they lack in calorie content and ten tempting desserts, served two for the price of one, Monday to Friday. The pub is also introducing a new Wednesday evening Spice Night.
The Crown will also be offering a new Sunday roast menu too – a choice of three meats, a 35-day-aged British rib-eye beef served with freshly made Yorkshire pudding, British free-range pork loin or Norfolk reared turkey, accompanied by crispy roast potatoes and roasted parsnips, seasonal vegetables and a selection of sauces.
“The Crown is a well-known Egham pub so the refurbishment has created quite an air of excitement”, said Matt. “We know it won’t disappoint and we can’t wait to show off the pub’s new stylish look to our customers. We’re introducing a new menu with an emphasis on freshly prepared, great quality food, that gives our customer real choice whether they are popping in for lunch, dinner, Sunday roast or simply after work wind-down drinks and nibbles.”
The family-friendly pub will open daily from 10.00am serving breakfasts until midday. It will close at 11pm on Sundays to Wednesdays and at midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays evenings.
