Guildford is the latest town to welcome the late night bar concept that is exciting partygoers all across the UK. Popworld, which promises its customers a high energy night out, back to back music featuring the nation’s favourite pop songs, eponymous cocktails and uber-stylish surroundings, is to open in Guildford on Friday 28th February, creating ten new jobs in the town.

Currently Flares on Bridge Street, the late night bar will close after trading on Sunday 16th February, to make way for Popworld. Investment in the site, which is owned and operated by the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company, will total over £185,000.

Popworld will host a VIP champagne and cocktail reception for local businesses, to take a sneaky peak at the new-look late night bar on Thursday 27th February, before the doors open to the public for the grand launch on Friday 28th February 2014 from 9pm. Simon Webbe and Duncan James from Blue will be making a special guest appearance, taking to the decks from 11.30pm. In addition HOWIE (Head of Weekend) and his team from WKD will be ensuring the party rocks, whilst stiltwalkers and fire-breathers will be on hand to entertain guests as they arrive.

The transformation to Popworld will see the introduction of a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system and the introduction of a new VIP area which include a number of VIP booths which come with their own dance floor and waitress service throughout the night.

The booths, which are going to be the height of comfort and luxury, are perfect for large groups wanting to celebrate a great night out. Customers will be able to relax in stylish surroundings and enjoy the evening, knowing that they’ll be looked after and served drinks by the fantastic team at Popworld. To book, customers can either contact Popworld directly or email them to make a booking at popworld.guildford@stonegatepubs.com

The bar also opens with a brand new cocktail menu which gives customers the choice of not only which drink they fancy, but how it should be served – in a glass, a top hat or even a disco ball! The cocktails, or Poptails as they are known at Popworld, vary in theme from the classic range featuring the likes of ‘Sex on a Beach’ to retro, ‘Dandelion and Burdock’ or ‘American Cream Soda’, to sweet Poptails such as ‘Toffee Apple’ or ‘Love Hearts’. There is a whole new range of bombs, shots and ‘poptarts’ too, Popworlds mini cocktails with delicious names such as ‘Chocolate Fudge Cake’ and ‘Jammy Doughnut’.

Speaking about the bringing Popworld to Guildford, general manager, Aaron Findlator said: “We’re really excited about launching Popworld in Guildford and know it will be a great success. Response to Popworld in other towns it has launched in has been phenomenal and there is already a real buzz about it in the town.”

“The idea behind Popworld is that it offers fantastic customer service; a great range of drinks from sharing cocktails, which we call Partini’s, to premium bottle serves for large groups of friends. The music is of course the highlight. The only rule about our playlist is that it should get you up on the dance floor so you never want to stop!”

“Duncan and Simon have had huge success again since The Big Reunion and have a massive fan base so we are particularly delighted that they will be joining us for our opening night. As well doing a DJ set they will be on hand to meet and greet customers for photos and autographs too”, added Aaron.

Popworld will be hosting regular personal appearance and live music events including a Michael Jackson tribute act on Friday 2nd May and a guest appearance from The Wanted’s Tom Parker on Friday 1st August 2014.

Popworld will open Mondays and Wednesdays from 9pm until 1am and from Thursday to Saturday from 9pm until 2am.

Popworld currently operates in Liverpool, Birmingham, Preston, Sheffield, Southampton, Swansea, Wolverhampton and York.
