They say the New Year is for new beginnings and for eight Hemel Hempstead residents that means a brand new job.
Heather Odell, General Manager of the Green Man pub on Leverstock Green Road is looking to fill the positions, both front and back of house roles, this month to coincide with the pub’s re-launch.
The pub, which is owned and operated by Stonegate Pub Company, is currently closed for a 10-day, £250,000 makeover that will see it transform into a modern and stylish pub yet retain all the traditional values that make the British pub special.
Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning will join Heather, her team and customers as they celebrate the new-look Green Man with a launch reception from 5pm on Friday 17th January 2014. Guests will be we treated to a glass of bubbly on arrival and tasters from the pub’s new sharing platters. Also in attendance will be Andrew Jackson, Director of Tring Brewery who will be taking questions and mingling with guests during a special ‘Meet the Brewer’ event at the pub from 5pm.
“Our customers will be quite surprised by the changes to the pub. It will be much brighter, fresher and contemporary with beautiful new oak flooring, increased dining furniture and a central feature – a large two-way fire to radiate warmth throughout the pub”, said Heather.
The pub will have a greater focus on quality freshly prepared food, introducing a brand new menu featuring dishes such as Cumberland Sausages and Spring Onion mash served with red wine gravy and sticky onion marmalade; King Prawn, Smoked Bacon and Asparagus risotto; sharing dishes such as a Charcuterie Board – traditional Spanish cured meats, cheeses, grilled asparagus and roasted peppers served with freshly baked bread and oils; and a choice of six dishes under 500 calories, that certainly make up in flavour for what they lack in calorie content. The pub will be introducing a new Sunday roast menu too – a choice of three meats, a 35-day-aged British rib-eye of beef served with freshly made Yorkshire pudding, British free-range pork loin or Norfolk reared turkey, accompanied by crispy roast potatoes and roasted parsnips, seasonal vegetables and a selection of sauces.
In addition to the far-reaching changes to the food menu, the Green Man will re-open with an increased range of cask ales. Three Tring Brewery beers, Ridgeway Bitter, Moongazing and Tring’s Monthly Special will be available alongside, Fuller’s London Pride, Sharps’ Doom Bar and Greene King’s IPA.
“What a lovely way to start the New Year with a brand new pub”, commented Heather. “We’ve been hinting to our customers about the menu changes and it’s created quite a buzz. All the dishes will use top quality ingredients and be prepared freshly to order. And with the choice of reduced calories options too, customers on a New Year health kick can still indulge without feeling guilty.”
“We are particularly delighted to welcome to our opening evening Andrew Jackson from Tring Brewery to showcase some of the brewery’s beers and to our local MP Mike Penning,” she added.
The pub will open daily from 10am serving breakfast and will continue to offer food until 10pm.
