Five new jobs are to be created at Yates’s in Walsall when it re-opens later this week following a £120,000 refurbishment. The additional jobs, one kitchen based and four front of house, are in response to the anticipated boost in trade at the busy Leicester Street pub.

The pub which is currently closed for a full makeover will re-open for a champagne and canapé reception, and live music from a vintage style male vocalist, for invited guests and regulars from 5-8pm on Thursday 25th July. This will be the start of four days of celebrations the highlight of which will be personal appearances and performance from Jo O’Meara and Bradley McIntosh from SClub on Friday 26th July.

Commenting on the refurbishment Lindsay Wakeman, general manager said, “Our customers are going to be really wowed by the changes when they come back in after the refurbishment. We’ve a state of the art sound visual system complete with a colour change ceiling as well as new party booth seating being installed, which are ideal for party bookings. There will be nothing quite like the new Yates’s in Walsall when it re-opens and as a special treat to our customers we will be open until 3am every Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the first month. Our ability to adapt with the times to fit with customer needs means that as the oldest pub brand on the high street we are still the best!”

Lindsay and her team have been busy putting the final touches to the weekend long re-launch plans. Following the pub’s VIP reception on Thursday 25th July, the pub will open to the public from 8pm for a celebratory party. Yates’s resident DJ will be hosting the evening until 3am whilst guests can enjoy entertainment from stilt-walkers, angle grinders and fire-breathers.

The party atmosphere will continue into the weekend with Jo and Bradley from SClub taking to the decks and stage for a special performance from midnight on Friday 26th July. The pub will also welcome one of the UK’s top Take That tribute acts ‘It could be Magic’ from 7.30pm on Sunday 27th July.

“We’ve a busy weekend planned to celebrate our re-launch”, added Lindsay. “SClub have really gripped the party scene and we look forward to them bringing that energy to Walsall.”

The pub, which has long been a popular breakfast, lunchtime and early evening venue for quality, value for money food, will be hosting a stall during Walsall’s Thursday evening market on Thursday 25th July. Visitors to it can pick up a special discount voucher, valid until the end of August, for two for the price of one meals at the pub.
