Seven new jobs are set to be created at Bushey pub, The Red Lion when it re-opens following a £180,000 refurbishment.
The pub, on the High Street which is owned and operated by award winning pub company, Stonegate Pub Company, has temporarily closed to make way for designers and builders to work their magic, and is set to re-open with a celebratory VIP reception this Thursday 23rd May.
A top to toe makeover is currently underway at the pub with the layout change planned to create more space for a waitress serviced dining area. At the bar a further four cask ale pumps are being installed and to celebrate, the pub will re-open with a beer festival. “We already serve a selection of cask ales that are so popular with our customers that we have decided to extend it. During our opening weekend we’ll be serving Doom Bar, London Pride, St Austell’s Tribute, Greene King IPA, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, Adnams’ Broadside and Adnams’ Ghostship. This will be alongside our newly extended range of premium beers and brand new classic spring summer menu too”, said general manager Istvan Csirmaz.
The pub will swing open its doors to invited local residents and businesses on Thursday 23rd May for a complimentary lunch and an exclusive peek at the new look Red Lion. From 5pm a champagne and canapé reception will formally celebrate the pub’s re-launch.
As part of the makeover the Red Lion will have four new LCD screens installed inside the pub and one outside in the pub’s garden, making it the perfect destination for watching all the top live sporting action.
General Manager Istvan Csirmaz and his team are expecting a busy bank holiday weekend at the pub with local club Watford FC set to play in the Npower Championship play-off final at Wembley on bank holiday Monday. “We are so looking forward to our customers seeing the new look Red Lion and for our sports mad customers not heading to Wembley, what better way to watch their team than with friends enjoying a pint in the pub.
“From the beginning of June we will be hosting a barbeque every Saturday and Sunday during the day, weather permitting, for families and friends to enjoy our spruced up garden complete with giant blackboard and large chalks to keep little ones entertained. And on 22nd June we will be running a street barbeque for the annual Bushey Festival”, added Istvan.
Another new development for the pub will be a change to opening hours. With doors swinging open from 8.00am Monday to Friday, it will be an ideal meeting point or stop for breakfast. Several special offer and entertainment nights are planned too including ‘Wine Night’ on Thursdays when customers can enjoy any bottle of wine on the menu for under £10, a poker night every Tuesday to win bar tabs and regular quiz nights on Wednesdays.
The Red Lion will open with a brand new Spring Summer menu packed with mouth-watering dishes such as a charcuterie board, an ideal sharing starter or platter to enjoy over a bottle of wine, a king prawn, bacon and asparagus risotto and several delicious new superfood salads – a healthy option too at under 500 calories.
