The team at the Slug and Lettuce in Chichester are appealing to all would-be football players to take part in their five-a-side charity football tournament which takes place from 11am on Sunday 30th June at the Prebendal School’s Southgate Playing Fields.

The event will raise money for two local causes; Chloe’s New Legs, a private, not for profit fundraising scheme and CoCo’s Foundation, a charity which has links with Chichester-based Creations Hair and Beauty who are planning to send six hairdressers to South Africa to build a house for a community in need.

To sign up to play in the charity football tournament players must be 18 years or over. The entry fee is £5 per person and teams need to have at least five players to take part. All of the entry fees will be donated to the chosen causes.

Those who are interested in taking part in the tournament should email slugandlettuce.chichester@stonegatepubs.com or call 01243 792012 to register. Sixteen teams are required to play and entry into the tournament closes on June 1st 2013.

Along with the football tournament, the team are also organising a range of activity on the day to ensure that the whole family is entertained. Activities include face painting, a charity raffle and kid’s games throughout the day. The Slug and Lettuce will be providing refreshment throughout the day with drinks and a BBQ. The team will also be donating 25% of food sold on the day to the two causes.

After the tournament, the Slug and Lettuce will be hosting an after party complete with live music and an awards ceremony whereby the team will be giving out accolades to various players including awards for the best goal and the best save, to name just a few.

Speaking about the event, Keshira Aarabi of the Slug and Lettuce said: “The team and I wanted to create an event that not only support two very worthy causes, but brought the community together too. We are going all out to create a truly memorable day for everyone involved and hope that the local community come out and support the event. Prebendal School kindly donated the use of their fields and we hope that other local companies and organisations will be just as generous with their support or involvement in order to reach our target of £1000. This activity is part of a series of events that we’ll be planning throughout the year in order to build even stronger links with our community.”
