Reg Manning, manager of the Goose in Fulham celebrated a successful opening weekend after the pub was re-opened by local lad, George Groves, British and Commonwealth Super Middle Weight boxing champion.
The investment, which totalled almost £200,000, has seen the creation of two part-time jobs at the pub, which prides itself on showing some of the best sports events in the area. The new jobs are in addition to the 17 local people already employed in the business.
Talking about the opening of the Goose, Reg said: “The opening weekend was a real success and we’ve had so many new faces pop in to see the changes the investment has brought about. The team and I think the Goose looks fantastic, as do our regular customers and we hope to attract even more people to the pub to enjoy the new and much improved surroundings. We had a brilliant weekend of sport what with the Six Nations and some great premiership matches so we hope the winning streak continues!
“We were delighted that George was at the pub, helping us to celebrate – he even got behind the bar and pulled a few pints! He said the pub looked incredible and that he hoped he could pop for a drink or two when he’s not training for his upcoming fight which is on Saturday 16th March. We’ll be showing the fight of course and will be supporting him throughout.”
A new classic black and gold colour scheme along with new signage now adorns the front of the Goose. Inside, the pub has undergone a complete transformation with new wood flooring, a modern and stylish colour scheme and the restoration of the pub’s fireplace providing a cosy spot for guests to hunker down and enjoy a drink or two.
The Goose’s all-weather beer garden complete with giant umbrellas and heaters has also benefited from the investment with the installation of an outdoor television screen maximising the pub’s sports offer.
The Goose has introduced a number of new events and offers including selected meals for £2.99 on a Tuesday, a Grill Night on Wednesday where you can order any item from the Grill section of the menu and drink from £7.95. Thursday is curry night and customers can get a drink and a curry for just £5.95. The team at the pub are also planning live entertainment on a Friday night, once a month, in order celebrate the weekend in style.
