The Brass Monkey pub on Royal Parade in Plymouth has been chosen by Devon based micro-brewer, Hunters Brewery, to launch its latest cask ales – Devon Dreamer and Hunter’s Best.
The pub will host an exclusive launch event on Monday 4 February when customers and real ale enthusiasts can meet Paul Walker, Hunters Brewery’s Owner and Head Brewer, as well as be the first to try the beers.
Customers can enjoy complimentary tasters of each of the ales from 4pm. Throughout the evening, all pints of cask ales will be priced at just £1.99 as part of the Brass Monkey’s Monday Ale Club.
Devon Dreamer is 4.1% abv (alcohol by volume), golden-amber in colour and is described as having a lovely hoppy aroma. Hunter’s Best is a full flavoured 4% abv ale, amber in colour and has a deep malty flavour and bitter sweet finish. Hunter’s Best uses the New Foundland Citra hop making it a real speciality ale.
Paul Walker, Head Brewer said, “Hunters Brewery are proud to be working with the Brass Monkey to officially launch two of our most popular ales. Devon Dreamer was originally named Denbury Dreamer and has fast become one of our best sellers. Hunter’s Best started out as Butcher’s Best as an exclusive ale for The Butcher’s Arms in Abbotskerswell but has also grown in popularity. With the slight name changes we can now officially launch these delicious ales which will now appeal to a much wider geographical area.”
“One of the greatest things about a British pub is that a good one always serves fantastic cask ales. We at the Brass Monkey love to embrace one of Britain’s favourite pub drinks and particularly those that have been brewed close to home in Devon,” said Michael Jonas, general manager of The Brass Monkey. “Both of these ales are outstanding and we are delighted that the Brass Monkey’s customers can be the first to officially try them.”
