Calling all Hannah Montanas, fairy princesses, Snow Whites and Woodys, the Slug and Lettuce on Harpenden’s high street will be hosting Disney theme day on Saturday 2nd February to raise money for Hertfordshire Children’s Fund.

Looking to raise in excess of £300 for the fund, the Disney day is being organised by the Slug and Lettuce’s general and assistant managers, Charlotte Raybould, and Emma Jacobs.

Starting at 9am the team at the Slug and Lettuce will be dressing up as their favourite Disney characters and hope that others will do the same. There will be a prize for the best dressed Disney costume to encourage creativity!

Speaking about the event, Emma said: “The Disney day will be hosted in two parts and we hope to raise money to support the Hertfordshire Children’s Fund and help them to continue to provide care and assistance to vulnerable children within our county. We have also invited the Town Mayor, Councillor Nicola Linacre to come to the Slug and Lettuce so we hope that she can come to the event and lend her support.

“During the day, parents and children are invited to come along and enjoy the entertainment we’ve got planned including a Disney sing-along, face painting, games for the children and a balloon artist. We’ll also be running a promotion whereby children can eat for £1 when an accompanying adult orders a main meal and we’ll also be giving away goodie bags for the children.

“When the sun goes down, that’s when the party starts. The Disney day will still be going strong and we’re hoping that customers will continue the dressing up theme; I know the Slug and Lettuce staff will! We’ve got a number of great offers including two-for-one cocktails so make sure you bring a friend!

“Throughout the day we’ll be encouraging customers to drop in any loose change into collection buckets as well asking them to make donations. The Hertfordshire Children’s Fund helps children aged up to 18 years, assisting their families to buy essential, everyday items or specific equipment. This is the first time that we’ve supported this local charity so we are really focussed on raising a significant amount to help children within our county.”

The Disney day sees the Slug and Lettuce launch its month of fundraising activity. Throughout February, the team at the Slug and Lettuce will be raising money for Help for Heroes where a host of activity is planned to help raise funds for the armed forces charity.
