The Harrow Inn on Cheam’s High Street has joined forces with members of staff from Everyone Active gym to raise £3000 for Different Strokes, a charity that provides assistance and support to young stroke survivors throughout the UK.

The Harrow Inn, which is owned and operated by the Stonegate Pub Company, will be hosting a series of fundraising activities over the coming months to reach their target. Whilst Pippa Crowther and Nathan Gill from Everyone Active will be cycling from London to Paris in April, a total of approximately 300 miles, to raise awareness of the charity and to further boost funds.

Already, the group has raised almost £1000 by hosting a Moulin Rouge evening at The Harrow where canapés, Moulin Rouge fancy dress code and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and other national companies were on offer. Other fundraisers on the night included the chance to wax the legs of Nathan, personal trainer at Everyone Active and exacting revenge on both Pippa and Nathan them by putting them through their paces via a ‘Beast The Trainer’ session which was incredibly popular!

Speaking about the fundraising events, Tina Hunt, manager of the Harrow Inn said: “The Moulin Rouge night was really successful and we were delighted to raise almost £1000. To raise even more money for Different Strokes, throughout December we will be donating the participation fee of our weekly quiz which takes place every Tuesday evening at 8.00pm

“We’ll also be making our Christmas and New Years Eve celebrations free of charge and will be encouraging our customers to donate whatever money they would have spent on an entry fee into the collection boxes instead.

“All of the fundraising activity culminates with a Family Fun Day on Saturday 2nd February where will be organising face painting, tug of war competitions and lots of other activity. The team from Everyone Active will also be bringing some training equipment to the pub including a rowing and cycling machine so customers can try and attempt cycling the same distance as Pippa and Nathan in their bid to cycle from London to Paris in April.

“We would love to beat out target of £3000 and be able to present Different Strokes a cheque for a significant amount of money. We would like to encourage the people of Cheam to pop into the pub to drop in a few pounds or two into the collection boxes – any contribution, no matter how small or large, will really make a difference to young stroke survivors and ensure their care for years to come.”
