The North End Tavern on Cheam Common Road will be hosting fundraising activity on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital over the Bank Holiday weekend and the team have organised a host of activity to encourage customers to part with their pounds!
The team at the pub have set themselves a target to raise £500 for the charity and hope that with the help of their customers and their generosity, they’ll be able to meet that amount.
On Sunday 26th August from 8pm, local indie rock band, Brute Choir will be providing the musical backdrop while staff will be encouraging customers to buy raffle tickets for just £1 for a chance to win some great prizes. They’ll also be asking customers to drop in any loose change into the Great Ormond Street buckets dotted around the pub.
From Midday on Monday 27th August, the fun begins with teams taking part in the inflatable five-a-side football tournament. Entry costs £10 per team or £2 per player, which includes refreshment and a soft drink, and the money generated from the tournament will go into the Great Ormond Street fundraising pot.
For those who are full of determination and grit then perhaps the rodeo bull will be more to their liking? £1 gets you the ride of your life and the team at the pub will be looking to see who can hang tough the longest! The pub has also sourced a bouncy castle to keep the children happy and a BBQ will also be available on the day.
The charity drive by the pub is part of wider activity by the Stonegate Pub Company, the company that owns and operates the North End Tavern. The company’s South East Division of pubs and bars has pledged to raise £35,000 throughout August to supply the hospital a Newborn Bloodspot Screener, a piece of equipment that allows the screening of newborn babies for serious but rare genetic conditions such as congenital sickle cell disorders and cystic fibrosis.
Kim Williams, licensee of the North End Tavern said: “We’ve got a great weekend planned and hope that we can meet or even beat or target to raise £500 for GOSH. Many of the pub managers that I work with, and even some of my customers, have had to call on the help of Great Ormond Street Hospital, so this weekend gives us a chance to give something back.”
