Slug and Lettuce, the 73 strong high street bar group is launching its new spring summer food and drink menus for 2012 with a special nod to all things sporty.
Eleven new dishes join the menu, which launches on 1 May, including summer holiday favourite calamari served with a sweet chilli dip and lemon and a fisherman’s platter to share, comprising British wholetail scampi, sautéed king prawns in garlic butter, calamari and haddock goujons and served with chips, ciabatta bread strips and garlic Marie Rose and tartare sauces.
Chicken, bacon and avocado combinations have been introduced as both a salad and a wrap whilst there are three new tosada flatbreads – spicy beef bean and sour cream; pesto parma ham and mozzarella; and mushrooms goats cheese and onion marmalade. Mouthwatering pork meatballs with tagliatelle, spinach and a spicy chilli and tomato sauce, and two new burgers, the Bombay burger (classic burger topped with onion bhaji and mild Madras sauce) and The French (classic burger smothered in sautéed sweet red and spring onions, melting cheese and red wine and garlic sauce), make up the eleven.
Eight existing dishes have been tweaked to make them even better and a new activity pack with menu for children has been introduced which includes crayons, stickers, a colour me in postcard and jigsaw and cress seeds to take home to plant.
The drinks menu has had something of a sport-themed makeover with the new quarterly cocktail menu entitled ‘It’s all fun and games”. Set out in four sections there is ‘Fruity Final’ which offers a choice of six great fruit flavoured ciders and ginger beers including Crabbies Ginger and Rekorderlig Mango and Raspberry and ‘Jacobs Creek Coolers’, three unique new spritzers called ‘tennis whites’, ‘rose rally’ and ‘red deuce’, perfect for the summer fun. The third section is devoted to summer favourite Pimms whilst the final section includes three shots named ‘Bronze’, ‘Silver’ and ‘Gold’.
Slug and Lettuce has developed a reputation amongst its loyal clientele for delivering great deals all year round. Food favourites such as ‘Happy Monday’s , 50% off food all day on Mondays, Tikka Tuesdays, 2 for the price of 1 curries on Tuesdays, two meals for £5.95 from a choice of seven dishes all day every day and kids eat for a quid every Sunday are set to stay. These offers, along with the drinks ones, such as Wine Down Wednesday, (all bottles of wine except sparkling for just £10.95) and 2-4-1 cocktails during varying times throughout the week at each bar, mean customers can always get value for money.

From tennis themed coolers to podium shots we’re bringing the games right into the bar. Our new dishes are our way of celebrating great food from lots of nations across the globe”, she continued, “from the Spanish inspired fisherman’s platter, to our Mexican tosadas and Indian and French twists on the burger. As well as the new dishes, we’ve made some improvements to existing favourite ones, tweaked our wine list and put in place an array of tempting offers. So we’re ready, let’s bring on the sun and some serious fun and games!”
