Paul Woodcock, manager of Flares on Westgate in Wakefield has been appointed Chairman of Wakefield Pubwatch. Paul, who is Wakefield born and bred returned to the town last year as manager of Flares.
Pubwatch is a scheme that is run by licensees to reduce crime and disorder in pubs and clubs, making the towns in which they operate safe for residents and visitors.
Speaking about his appointment as Pubwatch Chairman, Paul said: “I’m delighted to be elected Pubwatch Chairman. I’ve had some previous experience of the role as I was acting Chairman in Halifax. The Pubwatch has approximately 50 members who are committed to working together to ensure the pubs, bars and clubs are run well and make a positive contribution to the town. We also work in partnership with the relevant authorities such as the police to make Wakefield a safe place to visit and attract people to the town centre creating a vibrant and buoyant night time economy which benefits everyone.”
The next Pubwatch meeting will be held on Tuesday 8th May at 2pm at the Pravda Bar, Queens Street (Chasley Hotel).
