Perry Barr pub, The Hare of the Dog, close to the BCU campus is getting itself a New Year facelift ready for the students return this month.
The pub, part of the Scream student brand, will be unrecognisable to local residents and students when it re-opens its doors on 13th January after a 9-day refurbishment. The multi-coloured décor and illuminated sign will be banished in favour of a new contemporary colour scheme and traditional pictorial pub sign. New leather button seating in the snug and main bar means Perry Barr’s favourite haunt just got a whole lot comfier, whilst images of local Brummie celebrities, the likes of Jasper Carrott, UB40 and Ozzy Osborne will adorn the walls. The bar itself will have new handpulls for cask ales and ciders fitted and the flooring and toilets will be transformed. Two big plasma screens will show all the greatest sporting action via SKY.
Keen to show of the new look of the pub, manager Chris Webb will re-open the doors on Friday 13th January, returning with Hare of the Dog’s favourite night Friday’s Quids. “Our customers won’t believe the difference. The pub will look awesome and with some of our best ever nights making their return, customers will be screaming out for more!”
The pub will re-open with a stellar line-up of value for money deals and nightly entertainment. Customers can get two main meals for just £6.50 all day every day whilst drinks can be discounted with Scream’s Yellow Card (available at http://www.screampubs.co.uk or via app). Monday is games night at the pub – from classic board games to the latest electronic game customers can pit themselves against each other for the chance to win prizes at the bar. Tuesday is sports night, whilst Wednesday is the student favourite, the sports social night. ‘Bulldozer’ returns on Thursday nights with a live band night monthly and on Friday, Quids makes its comeback. Cocktails and dancing are in the mix on Saturdays and Sunday it’s time to chill and the chance to test your knowledge in the uber-competitive pub quiz.
