The Town Crier pub, on City Road in Chester, has reopened its beer garden this week, following a six-figure investment, under the experienced reigns of General Manager, Rob Gordon.

Nestled in the heart of Chester, the pub is conveniently located opposite the railway station. The renovation of the garden includes the build of three new external booths, all of which are covered and house their own TV screens. A larger TV screen has also been installed in the wider seating area, giving you the choice to bask in the sun on warm summer days or take shelter under cover on those chillier nights, whilst ensuring you never miss the action on upcoming sports fixtures, including the Euros.

The revamped garden brings the atmosphere of your favourite pub outdoors, together with new furniture, plants and shrubbery, as well as a new mobile bar that will serve a selection of products, making The Town Crier’s garden an oasis for customers to relax in and enjoy those lazy summer days.

Rob Gordon, General Manager of The Town Crier, said: “I am so excited by this transformation and am delighted to finally welcome customers into our brand-new garden this week. The Town Crier is a fantastic pub in a great location and this refurbishment has injected a new lease of life into this venue.”

The pub’s transformation is happening in two parts. Although the beer garden is now open, parts of the pub’s infrastructure are still undergoing further investment and so until 30 April, the pub will be serving drinks only. In the meantime, the pub has partnered with Dough Bellissimo bringing delicious artisan pizzas to its customers. Using the best Caputo “00” flour to make the best pizza bases and the finest Italian ingredients where possible to create a taste of Naples, these pizzas are the perfect bite to eat to accompany a drink alfresco.

Rob continued: “Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our team and customers, whilst ensuring everyone is able to enjoy and make the most out of their long-awaited visit to our pub.”

The pub has ensured it complies with the new COVID-19 Secure Workplace Guidance for Pubs and Restaurants, introducing measures to protect staff and customers and ensuring the smooth running of operations.

Understanding the importance of clarity for customers, The Town Crier has installed external signage clearly setting out the safety measures in place. Customers will be greeted with a warm welcome from both managers and teams, and robust COVID-secure measures, including clear social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning regimes and adhering to NHS Test and Trace guidelines; full table service with contactless payments available, customers can also order food and drinks via an app, will be in operation.

Tables can be booked on The Town Crier’s website (http://www.greatukpubs.co.uk/towncrierchester/party-booking) or by calling the Stonegate central booking team on 03300 949251.
