The unmissable and legendary Maids Head pub at the heart of King’s Lynn is welcoming back customers following a £162,000 refurbishment bringing the town all the best of a great British local and unbeatable pub sports.

The much-loved pub has a long and fascinating history and is now delighted to be serving the King’s Lynn community again just as it has done for hundreds of years.

It has had a prime spot on the main square since 1736 but its biggest modern-day claim to fame is that David Bowie performed at the pub in 1966. It was his penultimate show with the band Buzz before launching his infamous and acclaimed solo career. What an amazing history this pub has had since the 18th century!

With a great view out over Tuesday Market Place, today it combines tradition and history with memorable 21st century hospitality. It is run by Harry Price and Kirsten Johnstone who are local to the area and have run pubs throughout the east of England.

Excited to be at the new-look Maids Head, Harry said: “Wow! What an amazing pub this is and we are so lucky to be here. It is brilliant meeting the locals and getting to know them and hearing all about the town and the pub. Imagine standing in the pub where Bowie performed! Not many people can say that!”

Kirsten said: “This pub is such a part of King’s Lynn. We are over the moon with the refurbishment

and just so glad to be open again for all our customers. The seating has been refurbished and is more comfortable so everyone can really settle in and enjoy their time here. There has been a facelift throughout the pub and it looks great. Sit back and enjoy a drink and a catch up with friends, family and neighbours. That’s what we are here for!”

The pub is part of the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company, who were named the Best Community Operator at the 2022 Publican Awards. It invested £162,000 in Maids Head during its recent refurbishment so the King’s Lynn community can enjoy this friendly neighbourhood pub for years to come. It’s pet friendly and all are welcome.

There are new HD TVs and audio equipment so there is outstanding BT Sport and Sky Sports viewing throughout. There is a new darts surround and illuminated throw and pool table for in-house sporting entertainment. It is a perfect place to stop off at for a refreshing pint while shopping, for lunch, after-work drinks or to catch matches with fellow fans and friends.

Harry added: “We are a traditional community pub and thanks to these latest works we can serve the community even better. We have kept all the character of the pub which people love and added some extra comforts which people deserve in this day and age. We are here for everyone, serving good quality, good value drinks with great service.”

The drinks menu has been extended with a wide choice of local, national and internationally-renowned beers, wines, ciders and spirits, a choice of cocktails, plus soft drinks and low and no alcohol drinks. Download the Craft Union Order & Pay app and simply buy your drinks without having to leave your seat and they will be served to your table.
