With a host of subtle changes to the popular Norwood Green local, The Old White Beare opened once again on Monday, following a £527,000 refurbishment.

Just a 15 minute drive from Halifax, The Old White Beare opens from 11am every day, making for an idyllic spot to pop in and enjoy a drink throughout the afternoon and evening, with a fantastic range of local cask ale, beers, wines and spirits available at the bar. The countryside pub which is full of character, now also offers a new, appetising menu, which includes a range of pub favourites such as their hearty Sunday Roast, heavenly afternoon tea, and a champagne brunch offering. The pub is also dog-friendly, making it ideal for popping in at the end of a long walk around the surrounding countryside.

Enhancements have been made to The Old White Beare, the interior being redecorated with new furnishing and fittings to give an even more homely feel to the cosy local. Whilst changes have been made, the pub still keeps its traditional and welcoming character, that everyone knows and loves.

Externally the pub’s spacious garden area has also been given a new look, with furniture and decking added, allowing guests to enjoy the sunny autumnal afternoons in the company of friends and family.

The historic village pub dates back to the 16th century when it was first opened as an inn, quickly becoming a stopping place on the old pack horse route, between Halifax, and Bradford. Its unusual name comes from the pub’s rebuild in 1590, which used timber from the ship ‘The Old White Beare’, a ship which was used in the battles against the Spanish Armada.

General Manager at the Old White Beare Richard Seaman said: “The pub has always been popular due to its character and history, but this refurbishment is going to take the pub to a new level, as we look to the future, whilst paying homage to the pub’s past. It’s great to open the doors once again, and see our guests enjoying our range of delicious food and great drinks at this charming pub.”

The pub will host its grand launch event throughout this weekend, where from 6pm on Friday 14 October, guests will be welcomed back into the pub with canapes and a range of new products to try, and on Saturday 15 October from 9pm, local musician Callum Spencer will be performing.

Richard continued “I can’t wait to welcome back both our regulars and new guests to the pub. The launch weekend is going to be a lot of fun and give our guests the opportunity to sample some of our new offerings brought in during the refurbishment.”
