It’s a new beginning for The Dog & Partridge in Clitheroe. The former Dog Music & Sports Bar has reopened under a new guise after a major overhaul and is already receiving plaudits from customers enjoying its great new style and hospitality.

The Dog & Partridge has received a £217,000 investment from Craft Union Pub Company and is a popular spot for regulars as well as tourists taking in all that the Ribble Valley has to offer – including a refreshing pint or glass of wine at the re-opened pub.

Football fans have already been attracted back to watch the action with Sky Sports and BT Sport installed throughout and a World Cup to enjoy. There are also new TVs and an AV system to create the perfect matchday experience. The bar has been relocated which ensures everyone has a great view and has added to an environment that caters for all manner of occasions throughout the day.

While it was previously best known as a late night venue, the refurbishment works have focused on improvements to make it an ideal community pub that provides a range of entertainment including live music and karaoke.

Sport is at the heart of the offer. For as well as showing all the live action there is also new pool table and dart board. The Dog & Partridge is based near to the home ground of non-league side Clitheroe FC and the pub’s new Operator is looking forward to forging a strong link with the club.

Steve Read, who is originally from Manchester, has more than 20 years’ experience in hospitality and is excited by the new challenge of his role at The Dog & Partridge.

He said: “The opening weekend was staggering – it was so busy. There has been a great response and we have had brilliant feedback from customers about the new look and feel of the place.

“Sport is very important to us and we are looking to create new pool and dart teams and get involved with football at a grassroots level.”

Steve will be supported at the pub by business partner Karen White-Cancherini who successfully ran her own bar and restaurant in Portugal before returning to the UK.

The pub is part of the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company, who were named the Best Community Operator at the 2022 Publican Awards. This investment also includes redecoration inside and out of the listed building and the addition of outside seating.

Steve added: “We have something for everyone here now and this is a real community pub. I can’t wait to welcome even more people through the doors so they can enjoy some great traditional community spirit in this friendly local!”

Keep up to date with all the events and offers on the pub’s website  and at its Facebook page.
