Much-loved community pub in Brownhills, the Shoulder of Mutton, received a six-figure investment towards the end of last year, providing a fresh new look and enhancing its warm, welcome for locals and visitors.

Operators Ben Holmes and Emma Mortimer, as well as the pub team, have provided high quality hospitality to many individuals and groups from the local area, forming great relationships through the years. A more recent guest Ben, Emma and the team welcomed to the pub, was the Mayor of Walsall -Rose Martin.

The Mayor’s visit allowed her to find out more about the Shoulder of Mutton’s investment, which saw changes made to the interior and exterior of the pub in addition to introducing new entertainment offerings.

Ben said: “Having our local Mayor visit was great, she was very pleased to hear about all the work that had been done during our investment, and she loved the look and feel of the place.”

Ben, Emma and the team were also able to talk to the Mayorbout how they bring together everyone in Brownhills through their great drinks and amazing, regular entertainment offering.

Emma commented: “Community is a huge part of the Shoulder of Mutton, and we all loved being able to tell the Mayor what we offer for customers, and for her to see everyone enjoying themselves.”

The Shoulder of Mutton offers live sport, which is shown across the HD TV screens as well as weekly Karaoke and Disco Nights. Emma concluded: “We like to be able to support as many individuals within the area as we can. We welcome darts teams to play their matches at the pub on our new darts board and we want the pub to be a space for anyone who wants a chat and support local charities and causes.”

The Mayor of Walsall said: “It was a pleasure to visit the Shoulder of Mutton. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Ben, Emma and the pub team, and seeing the changes made during the recent refurbishment. I was very pleased in particular with the outside amenities for children. The team at the pub are all so friendly and welcoming, and there is a true community essence here. I was fortunate to have been able to speak with lots of the pub’s customers, who all expressed their love for their local. I am very thankful to Ben and Emma who allowed me to go behind the bar and pull some pints! My husband who was also in attendance thoroughly enjoyed his pint of real ale. I look forward to the next time I pop by the Shoulder of Mutton and wish Ben, Emma and the team all the success.”
