The Mayor of Derby, Mr Robin Wood, visited the Brackens in Alvaston following the pub’s recent £223,000 investment by Craft Union Pub Company. During his visit, Mr Wood expressed his admiration for the refurbishment, which included a renovated seating area, fresh paintwork to dress the exteriors of the pub and an upgraded garden space for guests to enjoy the first glimpses of Spring sunshine.

The Mayor was particularly impressed with the addition of Draught Bass, one of his favourite beers, and took the time to compliment Nick Garbett, the Operator of Brackens, on the excellent refurbishment.

During his conversation with Nick, the Mayor spoke about how the Brackens have had, and continues to have, a positive impact on the local community. He highlighted the importance of such investments in pubs, saying they enhance the area and are good for the local economy in attracting more visitors.

Mr Wood stated, “Pubs play a vital role in our local communities. They provide a space for people to come together and relax while enjoying themselves. Investments in pubs, like the refurbishment at The Brackens in Alvaston, contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere that fosters community spirit.
