Walkabout in Plymouth is celebrating 20 years of operation on Monday 3 July and will be holding a host of celebrations over the weekend of 30 June for everyone in the local community to come along to.

The well-loved sports venue on Union Street has been a part of the Plymouth community since 2003 when General Manager at the time Scott Hempel and Deputy Manager, Russ Lempa opened the doors for everyone to come and enjoy great sports, delicious food and refreshing drinks under one roof.

Since 2012, Walkabout Plymouth has seen General Manager Glenn Chilcott at the helm, who was introduced to the venue by previous General Manager Scott. Over the last 20 years, Scott and Glenn have welcomed many guests from all walks of life and have many memories from over the years, including all the big sporting events watched and celebrated with customers.

Glenn Chilcott, General Manager of Walkabout Plymouth said: “I cannot believe Walkabout in Plymouth has been going for 20 years! I am forever grateful for Scott welcoming me to the Walkabout family 15 years ago and am so pleased to be in such a great venue.

“The team and I love our brilliant venue so much, and we love having a great time here with all the locals. Lots have happened over the last 20 years, and we cannot wait to reflect on the memories with everyone and celebrate our birthday this weekend.”

If you are in Plymouth from Friday 30 June, then you won’t want to miss out on the celebrations happening at Walkabout! Glenn and the team have planned a weekend of fun to celebrate the poignant milestone, and everyone is welcome.

On Friday 30 June, Walkabout Plymouth will be launching a brand-new night. Join the team from 9pm for Outback Night, where DJ Just Daniel will be taking residency, drinks will be on a two for 1 offer and The Helluvas will be playing some incredible live music.

The fun doesn’t stop there, Saturday 1 July is Walkabout’s Iconic Night. From 9pm you will be transported to an Ibiza party, as huge club hits will be played throughout the night by legendary DJ Darren Watts, who also played at the launch party in 2003.

Sunday 2 July sees an end to the anniversary celebrations, and Glenn and the team are pulling all the stops out. There will be a Big Birthday Quiz and the infamous Walkabout Plymouth Karaoke Night with DJ Chris Snell!

Glenn concluded: “This weekend is going to be so much fun, we have so much going on that you can all get involved with, and there will also be giveaways and freebies all weekend! The team and I hope to see as many of you as possible, so we can celebrate in true Walkabout style.

“The last 20 years have been amazing, and we cannot wait to see what’s in store for the future!”
