The Lord Protector in Huntingdon has recently welcomed local MP Jonathan Djanogly, to find out more about the local pub following its significant six-figure investment earlier this year.

The pub, located in the heart of the Oxmoor estate, is a real asset to the local community, and Jonathan was able to witness this first-hand on his visit.

Welcomed by Operators Steve and Michelle, the MP for Huntingdon was given a tour of the new-look pub, seeing all the new additions. One new feature which particularly caught Jonathan’s eye was a map on one of the pub’s walls of the surrounding area.

As well as seeing all the new additions, Steve and Michelle also told Jonathan about their new, extensive drinks menu as well as all that they are doing for the local community.

At the Lord Protector, they have recently set up a food bank, collecting donations from the local community to support those in need. Also, one of the pub’s team members participated in a charity head shave for Macmillian Cancer Support. Steve and Michelle always welcome ways to support the Huntingdon community and always put their customers at the forefront of the business.

Steve commented: “The Lord Protector is a true community pub, and it is so good to be able to support those around us and make the venue a place for anyone and any occasion. We loved being able to tell Jonathan about all of our charity work and community efforts, as it means so much to us. Whether it is our weekly entertainment, fundraising initiatives or just offering a space to relax and come for a drink, we love bringing together the local community!”

During Mr Djanogly’s visit, he was able to get involved with some of the pub’s fun. First, he got a lesson in how to pull a pint and got behind the bar to pour a pint of real ale which he got to enjoy with some of the customers. After his pint, he took part in the pub’s barrel top challenge.

Michelle said: “We thoroughly enjoyed having Jonathan come to visit our wonderful pub, and it was nice to see him have some fun. He was really interested in our recent investment and we really enjoyed talking to him about all that we have to offer.

“We hope to see Mr Djanogly again sometime soon!”

Jonathan Djanogly MP said: “My recent visit to the newly refurbished Lord Protector pub located in the heart of the Oxmoor Estate was a real pleasure. The venue’s refurbishment is a testament to the hard work of the pub’s operators, Steve and Michelle, and I wish them and the whole team the best of luck for the future.”
