Local community pub, Bunch of Grapes in Bridgwater has recently taken the top spot, winning the highly regarded ‘Pub of the Year’ award, at the 2023 Mercury Pub Awards.
The beloved neighbourhood pub, owned by award-winning pub company Stonegate Group, came out with first place in the Mercury Awards, after customers cast their votes on which pub should win the prestigious award. After a local poll landed Bunch of Grapes in the top 10, publicans Tracey and Jim were then voted as winners by devoted customers, who heralded the pubs refreshing and extensive range of drinks and warm atmosphere the couple provide, enhanced also by the regular community lead games and karaoke nights creating a friendly hub for locals and new customers alike.
Jim commented “We were stunned to win; it was a real surprise to be in the top 10 let alone the winners. It means a lot that our customers voted for us. The support from customers in the last 5 years that we’ve been publicans has been incredible and is the reason we’re able to keep bringing the local community together for drinks with friends and family. It is an honour to be crowned pub of the year and we couldn’t be more grateful. We look forward to all our upcoming events.”
The couple celebrated the much-deserved win, by partying and drinking champagne with their dedicated staff and loyal customers, bringing together the local community for a night of fun and merriment for all.
The Bunch of Grapes pub won’t be stopping there, as the local favourite has further exciting plans this year, including taking part in the Bridgwater Carnival in November, as well as many other community-based events.
