Popular community pub, the George Canning in Camberwell will be reopening its doors on Wednesday 23 August following a £200,000 transformative investment and will be celebrating with a grand launch party weekend across the first weekend of September.

The 19th-century pub, named after the British Statesman, George Canning has had a complete overhaul throughout providing a new look and feel for pub-goers.

Inside, the pub has been re-decorated throughout, providing a fresh, new feel, whilst still retaining its warm welcoming character. The layout has also been changed to increase seating capacity, meaning more guests can enjoy a refreshing drink and the huge array of entertainment now offered at the George Canning.

The renovated bar is now home to an extensive, revamped drinks menu which features beers of Fosters, Birra Moretti and Beavertown, wines and cocktails.

As well as the inside renovations, customers can also enjoy the revamped outdoor area, and enjoy soaking up the remaining summer sun with a refreshing drink in hand.

To pair with the great drink selection is a whole host of entertainment now set to take place every day. Entertainment will take place in the day and evening and highlights include live DJ and music, quiz nights and jukebox oldies. So why not gather your friends and family, even the kids and dogs, and come and have some fun, it’s the perfect opportunity to wind down after work and studying.

The entertainment does not stop there as the George Canning’s sports offering has been revitalised and is the place to be if you can’t make it to the stadium. With brand new HD TV screens all with TNT and Sky Sports, sports lovers won’t have to miss any of the action, as all the latest live sports will be screened regularly. Also, if you want to participate in some friendly competition yourself, there is a newly installed darts board.

The George Canning will also be carrying out fundraising initiatives for Cancer Research and The London Animal Hospital. Both charities are close to Operator Johnathon Robinson’s heart as he had a family member who passed away from cancer and has a huge love of animals.

Johnathon has worked in the pub industry for five years and before entering the trade had a successful sporting career as an academy football player at various teams. He and the team are ready to welcome everyone back to the bustling pub for a good time.

Johnathon said: “I am so excited to open the doors to everyone and show off the new look George Canning. We will have so much going on at the pub that all guests can enjoy and am particularly looking forward to partying with students on the weekend and watching matches with all the sports fans. The George Canning is here for all members of the community, and I can’t wait to get to know you all, put my stamp on the place and celebrate our wonderful investment.”

Across the first weekend of September (1st, 2nd and 3rd), the George Canning will be hosting its grand launch weekend for the Camberwell community to get involved with. On Friday, join Johnathon and the team for a fabulous night from 7:30pm. There will be stilt walkers kicking off the night, followed by DJ Shimia providing the perfect soundtrack.
