Hemel Hempstead favourite, the Tudor Rose is set to re-open its doors after a six-figure investment from the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company. The neighbourhood staple will be welcoming customers back from the 24th August and will be hosting a fun-filled launch party across the 1st,2nd and 3rd of September.
The community hub has undergone a transformation, with a full investment providing a welcome uplift throughout the pub. Guests can now expect a cosier, more inviting, softer setting, with new carpeting in the front bar area, revamped seating, and a fresh new overall look.
A pub steeped in history, the name celebrates Hemel Hempstead’s well-known connection to Henry VIII, who gave the town its first charter! As well as this, the pub has been used as a location in a BBC1 comedy series, starring Greg Davies.
As well as a new look and feel, the pub also has a new Operator at the helm. An experienced Operator across the board, Mark McCartan is no stranger to running a successful pub and has worked in the local area, and Watford for many years and can’t wait to welcome new faces to the Tudor Rose. He also plans to continue via the pub to raise money for Box Cleva, an award-winning charity, that actively engages with young people aged between 7-15, promoting healthy lifestyles and providing positive role models.
Mark McCartan, Operator at the Tudor Rose, said: “Working in pubs has always been a passion of mine, and it’s been amazing to see the transformation of the Tudor Rose. I’m really looking forward to seeing old and new customers alike seeing the new space and can’t wait to welcome everyone to the new-look pub!”
As part of the overall renovation, the pub will now be introducing entertainment that will run across the whole week, so customers have a whole host of activities to get involved in! On a Monday, guests can look forward to a darts league, Wednesday, the pub will host bingo, with prizes to be won. Friday nights will see a DJ, playing pop floor fillers, and Saturday will become the big sports day, and host live music on every last Saturday of the month. To round off the week, Sunday will also show sports, and finish the evening with a quiz night for all to get involved in.
The entertainment doesn’t stop here! The pub will also be hosting a grand launch weekend, across the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of September. Friday, guests can enjoy a complimentary welcome drink, and get involved with karaoke. There will also be a DJ, stilt walkers and fire eaters! On Saturday, there will be free late-night pizza, and live band ‘The Sevre’ playing their very best hits. To end the weekend, Sunday will host a family fun day, with a DJ, karaoke, magician, and sweet stall, as well as face painting for the little ones.
Mark McMartan concluded: “I hope to see as many local people getting involved in our brand-new schedule of entertainment as possible. As a neighbourhood pub, it’s great to see communities coming together and having fun with friends and family, and it’s an honour to be part of an establishment that brings people together, in a beautiful new space.”
Keep up to date with all the events and offers on the pub’s website and on its Facebook page.
