Local community favourite The White Horse, Halifax has raised an incredible £6500 for the Children’s Diabetes team at Caderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust through fundraising.
Germaine, operator at The White Horse, has been busy fundraising recently for the Children’s Diabetes team, and with help of the local community, has been able to raise an outstanding amount through raffles, charity fundraising days, and a jar on the bar for donations.
One of The White Horse’s most popular fundraisers is a weekly beer raffle where customers donate to receive raffle tickets and then are in with a chance of winning cases of beer which has been extremely successful. Alongside this, the team have also hosted multiple charity fundraiser days to bring the local community together in some fun filled activities to continue fundraising efforts and have a permanent jar on the bar where the generous pub-goers in the area have been donating.
The Children’s Diabetes team are a group close to Operator Germaine’s heart. Having tragically lost one of her sons to type one diabetes and her other son also suffering with the condition, Germaine is determined to raise as much money and awareness as she can for the cause.
Germaine said, “The trust is extremely close to my heart, and what they do to help families is amazing. No parent should have to experience losing their child to diabetes which is why I’m so passionate about raising money for the Children’s Diabetes Team. They provide fun filled days for children with diabetes and their families as well as vital equipment and life-saving training. I want to thank everyone who has donated or come to one of the fundraising days, every donation truly makes a difference and the support from the community has been unbelievable.’’
The team are planning another upcoming charity fundraising day around Christmas, as well as continuing their weekly beer raffles and jar on the bar, to continue raising funds for the trust.
