A popular community pub, the Woodman in Ruislip has recently added another award to its belt, receiving recognition from the award-winning Stonegate Group for its brilliant performance, amazing offerings, and community involvement.
In just under a year, the Woodman has been crowned Stonegate Group’s pub of the year and London and South East Divisional pub of the year at the internal Stars of Stonegate Awards, and Stonegate Group Pub Partner’s pub of the year at the highly acclaimed Great British Pub Awards.
The award wins and recognition come from the magnificent work carried out by Licensee Steve Banks and the pub team. Steve has been with the Woodman for eight years and has transformed the traditional pub, filled with character into a bustling community hub.
Offering an extensive drinks range of real ales, beers, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic options, alongside some great midweek lunch dishes. In addition to the drinks and food, the pub’s weekly entertainment schedule keeps regulars and new faces alike entertained and having a good time. Steve does all he can to support individuals and has been able to create lovely relationships with regular customers.
Steve and the team are committed to providing guests with excellent offers and experiences at the pub and consistently provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The local community is also at the centre of everything Steve does at the Woodman and he continually finds ways to support local charities and causes throughout the year. Recently, the Woodman’s annual charity event ‘The Woodfest All Dayer’ took place with an impressive 400 people dropping by to support the Michael Sobel Hospice. The day saw a variety of entertainment including a DJ and live singers who provided the soundtrack for the day and some delicious food stalls. The money raised from this fundraising event and other activities over the year for the hospice will be totalled up and donated by Steve.
Whilst Steve’s customers play a huge part in his role at the Woodman, his team also does, and is why he is committed to forming great relationships with them and providing them with the opportunities to expand and develop their skills and careers.
