Popular local pub, the Wyggeston in Burton-on-Trent will be reopening its doors on Thursday 1 February following an extensive £200,000 investment by the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company.
The pub, which has been operating since 1904, and named after Leicester wool merchant, William Wyggeston has undergone works to transform its interior and exterior as well as revamp its offerings for customers.
The inside of the pub has been given a brand-new look, providing a fresh, warm, welcoming feel, with the installation of new furnishings and fixtures and fittings, making the perfect space for guests to enjoy a drink.
It is not just the pub’s interior which has had a makeover, as the spacious, large garden area has been prepped for the upcoming spring and summer months. With plenty of space to sit back and relax, with friends and family, even the kids and your four-legged friends.
The Wyggeston has refreshed its extensive drinks menu, offering an array of favourite tipples for customers to enjoy. Highlights include beers of Carling and Moretti, real ales, wines, spirits and cocktails.
To accompany the new drinks menu is the pub’s incredible weekly entertainment, which will see some new additions for everyone to get involved with. Guests can look forward to open mic nights, quiz nights, live music nights karaoke and disco nights. The Wyggeston will also cater for all the sports fans in the area, as they will be showing live sports matches regularly on its HD TV screens all with Sky Sports and TNT Sports, so you do not have to miss any of the action.
The sports entertainment does not stop there, as the pub has four pool tables and a darts board, offering guests the chance to engage in some friendly competition. The Wyggeston will also continue to host its weekly Pool League, so local teams can come and practice and compete on the great facilities.
Part of the Craft Union family and with industry experience spanning over 10 years, new Operators of the Wyggeston, Phil Jester and partner Sam are eager to begin their journey at this fantastic community pub. The duo has a love of live music and sports, which they are thrilled to be sharing with guests when the doors reopen and are also keen to support the local community and cannot wait to begin fundraising activities for local charities and causes.
Phil commented: “The Wyggeston is a brilliant community pub in Burton, and Sam and I are pleased to be at the helm for its exciting new chapter. We are looking forward to welcoming regulars and new customers and sharing some amazing entertainment and drinks offerings for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to seeing everyone in the community once our doors reopen.”
