Two popular community pubs, the White Horse in Halifax and the Black Bull in Clayton are showing a fantastic effort in their support of a range of causes including the Dayle Children’s Diabetes unit and Mary Curie. The much-loved West Yorkshire pubs are hosting a variety of action-packed fundraising events in support of their chosen charities as part of Craft Union’s campaign to raise £1 million donations across its pubs nationwide.

Craft Union’s ‘Make it a Million’ campaign follows the astounding result of their fundraising efforts last year, in which they raised upwards of £800,000 for a wide range of commendable causes. The pub company has aimed to exceed their record and raise 1 million pounds for local causes via its pubs across the UK by February 2025.

Operator of Halifax’s The White Horse, Geri, is raising money for an incredibly personal cause, Dayle Children’s Diabetes unit, after losing her son to Diabetes. Geri has made exceptional effort in raising much needed funds for the unit, hosting regular and ongoing events for the community to get involved in. These fun-filled activities include raffles, lively 60s, 70s and 80s themed nights, and a weekly bar raffle at only £1 per ticket. Customers can also find a donation bucket on the bar and were asked to donate arts and crafts supplies at Easter instead of Easter eggs, which were donated straight to the children at the unit. Geri invites members of the local community to get involved in the fun-packed activities and charity led excitement in support of a worthy cause.

Another pub off to a flying start with their fundraising goals is The Black Bull, whose operator, Paula, is keen to extend her fantastic efforts. Paula kicked off her charity fundraising with a fun-day that included a tombola and a range of feel-good games, raising a staggering £1,400 for Motor Neuron Disease, but will not be stopping there. Another exciting fun-day will be taking place on Sunday 14th July at The Black Bull, in which customers will find another tombola, and children’s activities including parachute games and hook-a-duck. The fun-day event will take place in support of Marie Curie, a charity close to Paula, which offers invaluable support to a friend of herself. The community pub is also hoping to band together with local businesses for support and donations to further bolster its fundraising success.

There will also be a range of cheery fundraising activities taking place at The Black Bull during the UEFA European Football Championships, in which customers can get involved in the football fun and have the chance to win cash prizes. There will be penalty shootout competitions and ‘Guess the Goal’ competitions, after which the winner will be rewarded with a cash prize, and the rest of the much-needed funds raised will be donated to Marie Curie. Paula is incredibly eager to support the local community and host a variety of spirited fundraisers for customers to get involved in and enjoy in support of a commendable cause.

Members of the West Yorkshire community can also expect an exciting charity fundraising event taking place in August at The New Inn, Charleston, and are invited to take part in the upcoming initiative.

The White Horse and the Black Bull are well-loved members of Craft Union Pub Company and are flourishing in their fundraising efforts, making remarkable collective progress toward the ‘Make it a Million’ endeavour. Members of the West Yorkshire community can find a range of lively and fun-filled fundraising events at each of the sites and are invited to join in on supporting a range of worthy causes.
